Alzheimers NZ represents people living with dementia at a national level by raising awareness of dementia, providing information and resources, advocating for high-quality services, and promoting research about prevention, treatment, cure and care.
The Freemasons Foundation provides financial support for their flagship events, which are attracting health professionals, educators, researchers, care providers, and people living with dementia mate wareware and their care partners. The support allows people living with dementia mate wareware and whānau care partners to attend the events free of charge.
The latest Conference in March 2023, Repositioning Dementia: A new start, attracted nearly 270 registrations, of which almost 35% were people living with dementia mate wareware and whānau care partners. Typical feedback included:
“It helped me visualise where my husband might be sitting in a national context- very useful to us personally.”
The next conference is on September 21st in Christchurch with online or in-person registrations.
